What happened to the Allrecipes app?

Short answer: Allrecipes shut down its original app on March 20, 2023, to focus on its website. Your saved Allrecipes recipes were not lost. They moved to MyRecipes, a sister site from the same company, and in 2026 that company released a MyRecipes app for iPhone and Android.

How Allrecipes app users reacted

We read an 84-comment r/Cooking thread from 2023 and the US App Store reviews of the new MyRecipes app. The quotes below are exact, including the writers’ own spelling.

When the app shut down (2023)

How people got their recipes back

Where people moved their recipes

On the new MyRecipes app (2026)

One pattern stands out. The calmest posts came from people who already had their own copy, in another recipe app such as Paprika (see Recipe Notes vs Paprika) or in a printed binder. People who kept recipes only in the app’s saves had to go looking for them, and those saves have now moved twice. Whatever app you use next, pick one that lets you export your recipes. Recipe Notes can export your whole library as Markdown and JSON files.

  • The size of the recipe catalog.

Complaints in store reviews

  • Ads in the free version, and the trial and paywall.
  • Features from the Allrecipes website are missing, such as recipe reviews, scaling servings and searching your saves.

Moving your Allrecipes recipes to Recipe Notes

Allrecipes is the recipe website Recipe Notes users saved from most between July 21 and October 18, 2026, ranked by number of people importing from it. If you want your Allrecipes favorites in the same place as recipes from Instagram, TikTok and other sites, Recipe Notes keeps an editable copy of each one, free and without ads. Your copy stays the same even if the original page changes.

Saving one takes three steps.

  1. 1

    Open the recipe on allrecipes.com

Use Safari or Chrome on your phone, or any browser on a computer.

  2. 2

    Share it to Recipe Notes

Tap Share, then choose Recipe Notes. On a computer, paste the link into Import on my.recipenotes.app.

  3. 3

    Keep your own copy

Recipe Notes saves the title, ingredients, steps and photo as a recipe you can edit, so it stays the same even if the original page changes.

“I switched to this app after using RecipeBox, which after adding a bunch of recipes suddenly was asking for a monthly subscription. So far, this app makes it actually easier to import recipes, including using a photo on your phone.”
Galkster, 5-star App Store review of Recipe Notes, December 2025

Frequently asked questions

Where are my saved Allrecipes recipes?

On MyRecipes. According to the MyRecipes help center, everything you saved on Allrecipes is now in your Saves on MyRecipes. Log in at myrecipes.com with the same email as your Allrecipes account and click Saves. Personal recipes you entered yourself stay on your Allrecipes profile.

Is there still an Allrecipes app?

Not under the Allrecipes name. Allrecipes shut down its original app on March 20, 2023, two weeks after a notice on its support site. People Inc., which owns Allrecipes, now offers the MyRecipes app, which includes Allrecipes recipes and syncs your saves.

Is the MyRecipes app free?

Yes, with ads. The free version lets you browse, search and save 100,000+ recipes, organize them into collections, and save recipes from other food websites. MyRecipes+ ($6.99 a month or $39.99 a year, 7-day free trial) removes ads and adds saving from Instagram and TikTok. Checked October 24, 2026.

What happens to recipes I saved from TikTok or Instagram if I cancel MyRecipes+?

According to the MyRecipes billing FAQ, they stay in your Saves as locked recipe cards that you cannot open without an active MyRecipes+ membership.

Which MyRecipes app is the official one?

The official app is published by People Inc. Group: “MyRecipes” on the App Store (id 6755009073) and com.people.myrecipes on Google Play. Apps with similar names, such as “MyRecipes: Recipe Keeper”, are from other developers.

Is Recipe Notes connected to Allrecipes or MyRecipes?

No. Recipe Notes is an independent recipe app. It can save recipes from Allrecipes and most other recipe websites, but it is not affiliated with Allrecipes, MyRecipes or People Inc.
