ReciMe app review: what it costs, what is free, and who it is for

ReciMe is one of the most popular recipe saver apps: 4.8 stars from more than 315,000 ratings on the US App Store, and over a million installs on Google Play. Most people searching for it want to know two things: is it free, and what does it cost?

Disclosure: Recipe Notes is a competing app. Every ReciMe fact below comes from ReciMe’s own help center or app store listings, checked on October 19, 2026. Sources are listed at the end.

How much does ReciMe cost?

ReciMe’s help center gives one US price: $39.99 a year for ReciMe Plus, with local prices shown in the app. ReciMe also sells Plus gift cards: $39.99 for one year and $19.99 for three months.

The App Store lists ReciMe Plus purchases at $29.99, $39.99 and $59.99 without saying which is monthly or yearly. Earlier reviews quoted $59.99 a year, so the $59.99 entry is probably an older or regional price. We could not confirm a US monthly price; check the Subscribe screen in the app before you start a trial.

What the free version of ReciMe includes

The free plan is generous with planning and tight on imports. That is the trade-off to understand before you choose.

Free

Grocery list, meal planning, cookbooks and checkout tools. Recipes imported during a trial stay saved if you return to free.

Limited: imports

5 imports every 7 days, counted from the day you created your account. Social, website, image and pasted-text imports all count.

ReciMe Plus only

Unlimited imports, the nutrition calculator, the measurement converter, export and print, step-by-step cook mode, scanning cookbook pages and handwritten notes, and the AI recipe assistant.

Web

A desktop-only beta for importing, viewing and editing recipes and cookbooks. Meal plans and grocery lists are marked “coming soon”.

What reviewers like and dislike

A summary of the public reviews we read. Plan to Eat publishes a competing app, so we attribute its points to it.

Praise

  • Fast, reliable import from Instagram, TikTok and recipe blogs (App Store reviews, Plan to Eat).
  • A clean layout that is easy to learn (App Store reviews).
  • Grocery list sorted by aisle, serving scaling and a cook mode that keeps the screen on (App Store listing).

Complaints

  • The free import cap is the most common complaint (Plan to Eat, App Store reviews).
  • The most-upvoted Google Play review reports being charged the yearly fee after a cancellation did not go through.
  • Plan to Eat reports that duplicate grocery items are not merged and that the grocery list does not update when the meal plan changes.
  • Some Android reviews report logouts and slow loading (Sep 2026).

ReciMe vs Recipe Notes on the free plan

Neither free plan wins everywhere. ReciMe gives more free meal planning; Recipe Notes gives more free imports. Recipe Notes limits are from our pricing page.

Frequently asked questions

Is ReciMe free?

ReciMe is free to download, and the free plan keeps the grocery list, meal planning and cookbooks. The main limit is imports: 5 every 7 days. Unlimited imports, the nutrition calculator, export and print, and guided cooking need ReciMe Plus. (Checked October 19, 2026.)

How much does ReciMe cost?

ReciMe’s help center lists ReciMe Plus at $39.99 a year in the US, with local prices shown on the in-app Subscribe screen. ReciMe does not publish a US monthly price; the App Store lists ReciMe Plus purchases of $29.99, $39.99 and $59.99 without naming the billing period. (Checked October 19, 2026.)

How many free imports does ReciMe give you?

5 imports every 7 days. Imports from social media, websites, images and pasted text all count. The 7-day window starts from the date you created your account, not from Monday. Failed imports do not count.

Does ReciMe have a free trial?

Yes, 7 days. According to the App Store listing, the subscription starts automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.

Is ReciMe worth it?

If you import more than 5 recipes a week and want the nutrition calculator and cook mode, ReciMe Plus at $39.99 a year is in line with other recipe apps. If you mostly save a few recipes a week, the free plan may be enough. If the import cap is the problem, look at apps with a higher free import limit.

How do I cancel a ReciMe subscription?

Cancel where you subscribed. On iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → ReciMe. On Android: Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.

Is there a free alternative to ReciMe?

Recipe Notes has a free plan with 20 social imports a week (up to 5 a day) plus 30 website imports a week, an unlimited recipe library and no ads. See the full comparison on our ReciMe alternative page.
